Tonsler Park and Fifeville Community Trail Cleanup

Join us Saturday, August 22 for a cleanup at Tonsler Park and along the Fifeville Community Trail.

The trails here get walked every day — neighbors out with dogs, kids heading to the park, people cutting through on their way somewhere.

We'll be covering the park itself, the Cherry Avenue frontage, the creek running through, and the length of the trail system, working the places litter tends to settle: trail edges, creek banks, and the roadside.

Cleaning this up matters most for the people who use this park daily. It also keeps trash out of the water — everything here drains to Moores Creek and then to the Rivanna, so what comes out of the creek bed is trash that was already on its way downstream.

Grabbers, bags, gloves, and safety vests are all provided.

Just bring water and sunscreen — late August in a Virginia park earns both — and wear closed-toe shoes. This is a family-friendly event, and volunteers of all ages are welcome.

Come for the full two hours or whatever part of it you can give.
