Join us the day before Loop de'Ville to get a stretch of the Rivanna Trail, and the street that leads to it, ready for company!

We'll meet at the UVA Child Development Center, 408 Earhart Street, Charlottesville, VA 22903. Look for the CLP sign.

We're working two areas. We'll clear the roadside along Earhart Street, where bottles, cans, and paper have been dumped. And we'll work the Rivanna Trail from Earhart Street to Cedars Court, so it's clean when Loop de'Ville brings hikers, runners, and riders out on Sunday. Most of the work is on the road and the trail. There may be a little trash in the stream itself, so bring waterproof boots if you have them and want to reach it. No one has to get in the water.

Kids are welcome with a parent or guardian.

Earhart Street is where families drop off their kids every weekday, and it's the way onto a stretch of trail people use all week. It deserves better than being a dumping spot. It also runs right beside a tributary of Meadow Creek. Every storm washes what's on that roadside into the water, and from there into the Rivanna and the James. What we pull out on September 26th doesn't make that trip.

We provide all the equipment: grabbers, bags, gloves, and safety vests. Just bring clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty and comfortable closed-toe shoes. Long pants are a good call on the trail, and bring water.

This cleanup is part of the Rivanna Conservation Alliance's 2026 Rivanna River Round-Up. We've pulled 316 bags of litter off Charlottesville streets, trails, and creek banks since late July. Come help us add to it!
