Welcome to Cybercom Finland Java Meetup starred by Cybercom's own Java Champion Ivar Grimstad!
This time we are going to have the Meetup under the topic "Walking on Clouds with Eclipse MicroProfile and Jakarta EE".

Jakarta EE is taking over the relay baton from Java EE as a community effort in the Eclipse Foundation.
This session will give you an update on the current state of Jakarta EE and look ahead at how the continued development of the platform will look like. The transfer of the Java EE technologies to Eclipse Foundation opens up for very interesting synergies and collaboration with the Eclipse MicroProfile.
Eclipse MicroProfile currently provides APIs for the following aspects of microservices architectures:
- Externalized Configuration
- Fault Tolerance
- Health Checks
- Application Metrics
- Security
- Open API
- Open Tracing
- Client API
In this fast-paced, demo-heavy session, MicroProfile will be introduced and demonstrated using the available implementations in live coding demos. The features provided will be explored and compared in a vendor neutral way.
Deployment options to various cloud environments will also be explored.
We will also take a look at the potential candidates for future versions, Java EE 8 support and the relationship to EE4J and Jakarta EE.
SPEAKER BIO
Ivar Grimstad is a Java Champion and JUG Leader and software architect working as Principal Consultant for Cybercom Group in Sweden.
He is the PMC Lead for Eclipse Enterprise for Java (EE4J) and is involved in the Java Community Process as a member of the Executive Committee, Spec Lead for JSR 371 (MVC 1.0) and has served as Expert Group Member for a number of JSRs, such as JSR 375 (Java EE Security API).
Ivar is also involved in Eclipse MicroProfile as well as being an Apache NetBeans Committer and a frequent speaker at International developer conferences.
