Refreshments will be provided, including pizza, and some alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
There's also a pool and foosball during the networking!
This event will be live-streamed and recorded.
Please note we have an attendee limit of 70 people, so please update your RSVP current if you can no longer make it.
Agenda
- 18:00 - Welcome & Networking
- 18:30 - Secure Code Reviews with Rouan Wilsenach
You've got some code from a team member to review. You already know that security is important, but do you know how to review their code for security issues? In this session, Rouan will equip you to find common security issues before they're shipped to production. He’ll cover eight questions you should ask yourself whenever you’re reviewing code. We’ll look at an example pull request together and spot some big security issues that could easily have gone unnoticed. - 19:15 - ChatGPT vs CSC!
A panel of industry experts who respond to questions on current topics. After each panellist's response, the same question is posed to ChatGPT, with its answer displayed for comparison. The discussion then focuses on analyzing the differences and similarities between the human and AI responses, exploring whether AI like ChatGPT could replace cybersecurity professionals. The event aims to highlight the strengths and limitations of AI in cybersecurity, emphasizing the importance of human judgment, experience, and ethics. Questions will be welcomed from the audience as well as some big news topics. This should offer a thought-provoking look at the future role of AI in cybersecurity space. - 20:15 - Hacking Mainframes: Dispelling the myth of the impenetrable fortress with Kev Milne
'Te mainframe' is often overlooked as a legacy system that holds little importance in today's computing world. It is certainly seen as some mystical black box that should not be touched. If you have used your credit card lately, booked a flight or paid almost any monthly charges, then it is likely those transactions have been processed by a mainframe.
The lack of access to Mainframes such as the IBM zSeries often does not make it easy to conduct research on these system that are still processing more transactions daily than there are Google searches. During this talk I will give an insight into the history of Mainframes, some of their weaknesses (and strengths) and demonstrate some of the tools and exploitation techniques that can be used to assess, gain a foothold, and escalate privileges to SPECIAL. I’ll also give a break down on some of the terminology that is a mystery to most of us, and look at some of the dangerous attitudes towards that can hold security back on the platform.
Finally, we will provide information on where to start learning about Mainframes with special attention paid to tapping into the free resources and simulators that are available. - 21:00 - Close
