How do existing legal and policy frameworks such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and U.S. state privacy laws impact the policy development and outlook for AI policy and regulation? How do France’s policies align with the European AI Act? What are the main tenets of the White House AI Action Plan of July 23rd, 2025? What are the international bilateral and multilateral considerations of differing laws, policies and jurisdictions?

ABOUT CAROLINE

Caroline Gans Combe is an associate professor at INSEEC @ OmnesEducation, where she works on new paradigms of innovation and value creation, and teaches courses on data science, monitoring and impact indicators and related ethical issues. She is an independent expert for the European Commission in various fields such as health, ICT, data security, SME financing and ethics. In this respect, she chaired a working group on best practices in the use of data in research (ethical guidelines on data protection and privacy) and was appointed to the expert group assessing the growth potential of SMEs benefiting from the EU’s dedicated instrument.

J.P. Auffret is director, Center for Assurance Research and Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computing, co-director, Center of Excellence in Government Cybersecurity Risk Management and Resilience and director, Research Partnerships in the Costello School of Business at George Mason University, USA. Auffret is also co-founder and current president of the International Academy of CIO (IAC), an NGO headquartered in Tokyo.
