Join us for the Women’s Catskills Mini Tour. A 34 mile mini-tour around the Ashokan Reservoir. The route slowly winds around the reservoir, with stunning views of the water and Peekamoose mountain along the 2-mile pedestrian promenade, meanders off onto secluded woodsy back roads as it climbs around the west. At about mile 20 there will be a stop for cold local crafted drinks and sandwiches at Marty’s Mercantile. Eventually the route joins the Ashokan rail trail along the north side of the reservoir. This is a ride meant to connect folks wanting to explore and have fun on their bikes. There is one very short (30 yards) ‘hike-a-bike’ section where you will need to carry your bike through the woods.
Required: Signed Cycle Craft waiver (available at the meeting point); personal navigation with route downloaded; familiarity with group ride etiquette and responsibilities.
Suggested: Gravel bike or road bike with at least 700x30mm tires, footwear (tennis shoes or MTB clipless pedal/shoes) for the hike-a-bike section and for walking around at stops. Any ride that has a hike-a-bike section I suggest familiarity with poison ivy :-) and bug spray.
