IOW Picnic ride, largely off road. About 14 miles

A gentle paced, hilly, very scenic and largely off road ride on the Isle of Wight from Yarmouth. Bring your own picnic to eat at a viewing point about half way round. Extra drinks/snacks if wanted can be bought after the ride in Yarmouth before we catch the return ferry. Mountain bike strongly recommended.
On a Sunday, it is easy to find free roadside parking in Lymington, less than a mile from the ferry port.
Meet at Lymington Ferry Terminal at 10.40am to catch 11.00am ferry to Yarmouth. Return ferry about 4pm, but Wightlink tend to let cyclists take a crossing earlier than the one booked for the return leg unless overbooked for cyclists, which is rare, so I suggest booking the 17.05 ferry.
As this is a picnic ride, it is very weather dependant, and a bad forecast for the day will mean it is rescheduled for a later date.
Wightlink require that tickets are bought in advance, easy to do on line, and that you check-in at least 15 minutes before scheduled departure. Please only buy your ticket the day before the ride though, in case of rescheduling or cancellation due to bad weather forecast.
Please have your phone with you, and the leader's number stored in it.
Please also bring a spare inner tube, tyre levers and pump. And don't forget your picnic.

Please ensure that you follow the club rule, all riders must wear a cycle helmet at all times, if you fail to have a cycle helmet then you will be asked to leave the meetup, this is for your own safety.
