What we're about

We are a group of cyclists who enjoy more than just the ride. We live in a beautiful state that is just waiting to be explored! How do we differ from the other cycling groups? We actually enjoy the scenery as well as the ride! We ride regularly all around the Tampa Bay area, and will occasionally plan rides all around Florida. We try to add something fun and interesting to the rides, like lunch in a unique restaurant, weekend markets, beach sunsets, picnics, camping, kayaking, camping, etc. We have rides for all levels, from fast-paced paceline rides to casual family rides, and anywhere in-between. If you are new to riding, join us to learn! If you ride regularly and would like to try new rides, join us to explore! If you haven't ridden in awhile, join us to get back in the saddle! Feel free to post and host a ride!

By joining this group, you agree to the terms on the 'About' page (https://www.meetup.com/cyclingadventures/about/).

3: Critical Mass Tampa

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

This ride runs on the last Friday of EVERY month. Critical Mass is a large group ride to have FUN, meet new people, and to promote urban bicycle safety, skills, & confidence. They welcome anything human powered: skates, boards, and yes, even bikes! They move at a fairly casual pace of 10mph. The ride is about 10 miles. The rides are at night, so we HIGHLY recommend lights (LOTS of lights!) (Law REQUIRES lights at night, but that'll be between you and the popos. Ride respectfully & responsibly, and of course, you ride at your OWN risk. They have ONE, and ONLY one rule: NO GAPS. If there's room in front of you for a car to sneak inside the MASS, YOU are a MAJOR safety hazard, and need to... well, PEDAL FASTER, or consider dropping out of the ride. If you're behind this guy, pass him! Meet other Critical Mass participants who are enthusiastic about the mass-cycle event that shows that cycling in Tampa can be FUN, safe and better than polluting with cars! Promote bicycle awareness & safety. Get Involved in alternative transportation. Crank up the FUN! -> Critical Mass rolls out PROMPTLY at 8pm. <- Dozens of people do this ride every month, it is not limited to our group. LIGHTS, LIGHTS, and MORE LIGHTS! Helmets, (did we mention too many lights?), hi-vis clothing, redonkulous horns, bells, vuvuzelas, kazoos, duck calls, & sillyass costumes are highly suggested. Disclaimer: CMTB aren't your parents. The responsibility for each rider's safety, fitness and the soundness of his or her bicycle lies solely with each rider. Our rides are open to the public and Critical Mass Tampa Bay does not organize, sponsor, nor assume any liability for your participation in these rides. Specifics: • Please read the 'About' (http://www.meetup.com/cyclingadventures/about/) page for more details on what to bring, what to expect, etc. • Water may not be available on this route to refill your water bottles, so bring all you will need!
