Join us on Fridays for casual, no-pressure sailing on Lido 14s a small (14 ft), easy-to-handle one-design boat. We're proud to be one of the only dinghy groups on Commencement Bay, so if you're looking to sail something ifferent from the usual keelboats out there, you've come to the right place.
Dinghy sailing is one of the best ways to learn to sail. It forces you to learn the fundamentals directly — simple rigging means no complex systems to hide behind, and the boat's small size means every trim change or gust gives immediate, unmistakable feedback. However, mistakes are cheap and low-stakes, so you can experiment freely without the cost or complexity of a mishap on a larger boat. Because core skills like sail trim and reading the wind are learned so viscerally, they transfer naturally to sailing any other type or size of boat.
We have multiple boats on the water each week, with plenty of opportunities to crew or skipper — jump in wherever you're comfortable.
This is not a race series — it's casual and low-stakes. Every now and then we'll run a few practice starts or run some boat handling drills, but for the most part, it's just simple sailing.
This event is open and welcoming to sailors of all skill levels – come one come all!
