Talks:

  • Documenting your Cypress custom commands - Xavier Viuda
One of Cypress greatest features is the ability to use import less custom commands. Just write your command and you can use it everywhere, but what happens when you have 100 commands and you cannot remember them all. Xavier will show you how you can annotate this code so that you have auto completion and documentation in one.

  • Playwright Vs. Cypress - an introduction by Paul de Witt and Riccardo Corradin.
Writing automated browser tests can be a pain without any tools. Luckily, nowadays there are a lot of tools and libraries available, but this introduces a new problem: which one to choose? In this session Paul and Riccardo will use their favorite tool, Cypress and Playwright, and demonstrate the basics. You will learn some key differences between Cypress and Playwright and gain insights into how to get started with both. This should make the decision of what tool to use easier, because as always, the answer is: it depends.

Speakers:

  • Xavier Viuda: As an Agile Test Consultant and Continuous Delivery Consultant, Xavier always has the drive to improve the quality of the software being delivered. This includes setting up test automation and using CI/CD to organize the fastest quality feedback possible. This also means introducing the mindset change that is needed to think differently about testing and the way we measure quality.

Xavier’s goal is to be the link between the client and the business on the one hand, and the the technical aspects and the functional aspects on the other side. Because of this mix in skills, Xavier has a strong experience as a test and quality engineer but also as an agile test coach.
Coaching and helping hands-on within teams to implement improvements is what motivates him.

  • Paul de Witt is an ambitious and enthusiastic test automation expert and trainer. Originally an acceptance tester with a love for technology, he has proven himself a subject matter specialist. He excels in test automation implementation projects, where he efficiently and effectively aligns technology and process with an organization and its culture. Paul loves sharing his know-how and experience, especially through teaching professionals how to test, adopt DevOps, write Test Stories, and use Java and Cypress.io.

  • Riccardo Corradin likes giving trainings, because it allows him to learn from others and grow as a person. Also, the energy that surrounds a focused group that is trying to achieve a common goal is unique. Riccardo is grateful for the chance to be part of this.
Riccardo worked with clients from different industries. To name an example, he helped Nuon, the largest Dutch energy producer, in their rebranding to Vattenfall . Riccardo did this by contributing and providing support in a wide range of areas, such as architecture, design, implementation, and QA.

“Offload your memory to focus on what matters now” quotes Riccardo. Each day he tries to live by this principle in that most of his tasks are dumped in a paper notebook and at the end of each day he writes down what he achieved that day. This has helped him to prioritize, keep his mind focused in the “now” and getting things done.
