Let's go mushroom picking! 2024 🍄‍🟫

Limited number of people!

Yes, since I spent the whole September walking in Spain, it seemed that the yearly tradition would be broken this year. But since I see mushrooms are still growing this year, and it's supposed to get warmer next week, let's give it a chance! 😁

Since carpet bombing the forest in a big group of people would be ineffective, I have to limit this event to 8 people. If you can't make it in the end, but please change also your status accordingly so you don't keep the spot for someone else. I'm setting the deadline to Friday 4pm.

This time please be especially CONSIDERATE TO OTHERS as the number of people who can join is limited. Not showing up or changing your status over night is considered rude and will lead to uncompromising removal from the group. (and me personally kicking your butt).

You will learn:

• The whole magic how to recognize which mushrooms are editable and which not
• to recognize certain species of mushrooms
• how to actually do mushroom picking while being considerate to the nature
• what to do with the mushrooms afterwards

There is no specific trail this time, to find some mushrooms you have to be rather random.

I will specify the exact time and place later, but we are gonna go to the Brdy mountains (1-1.5h by bus), and I plan to be back in Prague at around 5pm.

Costs: around 200 CZK for transportation

It's okay not to have the best weather for this, as long as it's not raining much.
Ideally, wear water proof shoes though, and clothes that you can use in the forest.
You need to have something in which you can carry the mushrooms! Ideal is a basket, or some sack-cloth-like bag. But you can improvise (like me), anyway something that can ventilate as mushrooms easily get steamed up.

Please, take some food with you, you won't get anything in the forest, but we may pass by a restaurant afterwards if we feel like. No need to book anything in advance this time.

Also take a small pocket knife to cut the the mushrooms, and dress up probably. You're going to be walking in the forest.

This event is free of charge, but any contribution for organizing and to cover the subscription fees (take into consideration that Meetup has raised their subscription fee to 18 USD per month that cost me to keep the group alive) is more than welcome.
