Medical Kit-Making Event
Details
This is a medical kit-making event. We make compact, waterproof medical kits for Ukrainian soldiers and first responders. If you can bring some of the components that go into the kits that would be welcome but not required. Here is what we use to make the kits:
1. Extra Large Bandaids. These will say 2"x4" on the box. 5 per kit
2. Surgical tape 1/2" wide-1 per kit
3. Coban (COhesive BANdage). This a flexible gauze roll. We prefer the 2" width but we also use the 1" and 3" rolls, 1 roll per kit
4. Bleedstop clotting powder--1 packet/kit
5. "Wound Closure Strips", also sold as "butterfly bandages". These are pieces of tape that hold big wounds closed like stitches. 3M makes a product called Steri-Strips. 4-6 in each kit
6. Triple Antibiotic (Example: Neosporin). We would like to put one small 0.5 oz tube into each kit. Larger tubes or packets are OK.
7. 4"x4" gauze pads. We put 3 in each kit
8. 5"×9" gauze pads (also called ABD pads or combine pads) 2 per kit
9. 4" gauze and cotton rolls. We put one in each kit
10. Tourniquets. We try to put a small tourniquet in each medical kit. We use small RATS or CATS tourniquets or strapping cut to 3 ft lengths.
11. Vinyl examination gloves (large or extra large size only). We put 2 pairs in each kit (don't bring any, we have enough for now)
12. Advil - 3 packets of 2 per kit (don't bring any, we have enough for now)
13. Cotton swabs (Q-tips) 10 per kit
14. FoodSaver Vacuum bag (8”x10”)
