Welcome to our first of a series of events focusing on Smart Cities - this one covers Transportation. The next generation of smart vehicles, including autonomous ones, requires wholly new infrastructure and a new approach to urban planning. Innovators who are startup founders, urban planners, infrastructure builders, and policy makers will share their observations on how to support the movement of people, fleets, and goods in a smart city. Stay tuned for more updates!

Nigel Jacob
City of Boston (https://www.boston.gov/departments/new-urban-mechanics) - Co-chair of the Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics
Nigel’s work is about making urban life better via innovative, people-oriented applications of technology and design. He was also previously the Urban Technologist in Residence at Living Cities, a philanthropic collaboration of 22 of the world’s largest foundations and financial institutions, is currently a board member at many social impact organizations, including the Engagement Lab at Emerson College, Cities of Service and is an Executive-in-Residence at Boston University. Nigel is also currently a 2017 Barr Fellow and an Innovation Fellow at the Sanford School of Public Policy. This ground breaking work has earned Nigel a number of awards including being named a Public Official of the year by Governing Magazine, a Whitehouse Champion of Change, the Tribeca Disruptive Innovation award and most recently the MassTLC Distinguished Leadership award.
Ben Ritchey
CDM Smith (https://cdmsmith.com/) - Project Manager
Mr. Ritchey brings 30 years of transportation research-related experience primarily for U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and transportation industry. He is versed in strategy and policy options development, technology application in operations and policies. Recently, he supported the City of Columbus’ successful bid of the USDOT Smart City Challenge. His involvement ranged from vision and work plan development to implementation of the Smart Columbus program. Additionally, he has managed a number of Congressional Studies for USDOT. He is responsible for CDM Smith’s transportation practice for USDOT.
Cassius Jones
Smarking (http://www.smarking.com/) - Head of Enterprise Accounts
Cassius is the Head of Enterprise Accounts at Smarking, a business intelligence platform focused on solving the parking problem by digitizing the world's parking inventory. As an early employee, Cassius helped Smarking attain it's first clients. Today he is tasked with leading the firms growth efforts, managing strategic accounts, and guiding product development. Before joining the parking industry, Cassius spent several years working as an analyst in the financial services industry. He holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from the College of William and Mary and enjoys beating his data-science-minded colleagues in board games.
Kris Alexander
Akamai Technologies (https://www.akamai.com/) - Sr Director Market Strategy
Kris leads market strategy working closely with customers to understand key trends driving their businesses, drives industry thought leadership and innovation around forward looking market trends in areas such as Connected Cars, Big Data, Financial Services, IoT, Gaming, eCommerce, and more. Kris joined Akamai in 1994 as the Senior Product Manager who created and launched the Akamai Media Delivery Solution. He became Product Line Director for Media and Software, where he developed multiple strategies and managed many teams to successfully launch many new solutions and products that have enabled hundreds of businesses to provide high quality streaming, OTT, online software, and connected devices. He holds a BS in Engineering from Northeastern University, BS in Business from Northeastern University, and an MBA from Babson College.
