Elixir LA - The Monthly Meetup
Details
Join us for LA's Monthly Elixir talk night series on the third Wednesday of month. Come hear the latest presentations from local LA Elixir experts. We cover all subjects and are open to beginners and experts alike.
This month we are hosted by Leaf Group. Please join us! If you'd like to speak, please email desmond at crevalle.io. thanks!
Leaf Group is located at 1655 26th Street at Pennsylvania, between Olympic and Colorado. There is ample free parking in the building lot accessible via 26th. The building is also easily accessible via Expo Line by exiting at Bergamot Station and heading north on 26th.

We'll be hearing from Will Ockelmann-Wagner about "Parallelized Web Scraping with Floki"
Sometimes there's data you want, and it's even on the internet! But it's sitting on a HTML page with no API. Bummer. But with Elixir's great parallelization abilities, and a nice functional HTML parser like Floki, you can be up and scraping in no time.
Will is a lead software developer at Carbon Five. He started his career in accounting, but found that automating his job away was more fun than the actual job, and moved over to software. He’s into typed functional programming and tiny keyboards.

This month we're also going to try something new: a group discussion section. So stick around after the talk! The discussion question to get us started this month is: “What’s something you’ve found harder to do in Elixir than in other languages?”
