Demo Day

Details
Demo Day is back! Our new grads are about to start their careers as professional web developers; but first they want to show you what they've learned to build in just 8 weeks with Lighthouse Labs (https://lighthouselabs.ca/).
You can expect pizza, beer, a chance to rub shoulders with an incredible network of developers and entrepreneurs, and an inside look at the skill set of our new graduates!
Schedule:
6:00 - 6:30pm
Doors open, networking, food, beer!
6:30 - 7:30pm
Introductions from our General Manager, followed by project presentation from each group.
7:30 - 8:00pm
Your chance to talk with each group of students individually! They will set up booths in our space where you can interact with their project directly and ask them whatever questions you may have! This is also your chance to vote for your favourite project - and we take the People's Choice verrrrrry seriously.
8:00 pm
Based on the voting, the winner of the People's Choice Award is announced! The night is wrapped up.... unless you want to join in on our unofficial after party.
Plotline- Sam, Munene
A blogging platform, but instead of using text to convey a message, we're using maps. Similar to how Instagram or twitter works, there will be accounts where users can log in and post their own content (so in our case, maps with points, each of which have information attached), while also being able to follow other users and like/comment on their maps.
Kala - Melyn, Jackie, Rachael
A yoga scheduling app. Gets scheduling data from Vancouver studios and fits it into your google calendar. Can filter by price, location, discounts etc.
Maple Road - Natasha, Fiorella, Alexandra
An online eligibility calculator for the Express Entry immigration program to Canada. The user inputs their personal information such as education, work experience, and level of English or French and the app provides feedback regarding their eligibility. The user may also alter some of the details on order to decide which areas they can improve in order to qualify for the immigration program. This is an app built in Ruby on Rails.
Gab - Shannon, Christina, Albert
It should be easy to keep up with those dear to you, no matter their age. Gab makes it easy to share your everyday life- whether that means a quick video chat or your latest selfie. Gab: bridging the gap between seniors and loved ones.
Vanessa, Watchara, Desmond
A farm management system that takes in user data and real-time weather data to provide recommendations and activities specifically for rice farms in South-East Asia
3D Import/ Export - Clarissa, Josh, Derya
3D model of global exports and imports.
Open Shelf - Angus, Bennett, Jenny
A web app where you can find and share unwanted books for free. You can submit books by scanning an ISBN with your webcam.
Neighbourhood - Reena, Asuka
An app for neighbourhood to stay connected, share info (Maintenance/Emergency), buy/sell articles and indulge in secure chat.
Ping - Thomas, Martin, Jeff
Ping connects you with colleges and makes networking a breeze. Using bluetooth, Ping is able to monitor users relative proximity at conferences and networking events. Users are presented with a list of colleges who they were near at different times throughout the event. Making it easy to see who they met. Taking it a step further Ping interfaces with linkedIn’s api to provide users with a summary of their college’s profile information, and a link to their linkedIn account.
