Growing up in New York City, the iconic sights and sounds that surrounded Michael Doret as a child worked their way into his subconscious and influenced many facets of what he now does for a living.
He discovered that from the humble beginnings of his career up to the present, certain forces and their environments have influenced his work—both directly and indirectly. Come and be part of a thoughtful conversation where Michael Doret reveals the sum total of his conscious and subconscious influences.
Michael Doret is well known for his logos, album covers, and magazine covers and art for major brands such as Wreck-It Ralph, the New York Knicks, MLB, Time Magazine, Playboy, Wired, TV Guide, Kiss, Capitol Records and Universal Studios. His work revitalized the art of hand-lettering by expanding it into the areas of illustration and graphic design and influenced generations of designers. He entered the font business over ten years ago with an offering of beautiful script typefaces and opening his digital foundry Alphabet Soup.
