Using Golang in Sorabel and Golang Fundamentals

Welcome to the very first meetup of GoBandung!

GoBandung aims to be an inclusive community of all kinds of people who are interested in Go(lang) programming language and use it for their own purposes. All background of people from various experiences are welcome. This is a non-profit community and our aim is to provide a warm environment for Bandung people to share and have exciting discussions on Go programming language.

In our first meetup, Ahmad Zaky, Senior Backend Engineer from Sorabel will present "Why We Use Golang in Sorabel" and Muhammad Surya Asriadie, Software Engineer from Bukalapak will present "Golang Fundamentals".

Talks will begin at 7:00pm with around 35 minutes long each followed by 15 minutes Q&A session after each of the talks. Doors will open at 6:30pm so it is encourage to come on time before 7:00pm.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS AND PRESENTATION:

Ahmad Zaky, a Senior Backend Engineer from Sorabel, will present on the usage of Golang in Sorabel. Sorabel (previously Salestock) establish their engineering and tech not only for the online sore but also for private label production, merchandising, warehouse and logistics, and even customer service. They started with a monolith API using Scala and a bunch of microservices in Scala, Python, or NodeJS. He will unravel the rationale behind the decision of moving towards Golang and gRPC that already powered over 150 microservices and benefited both in terms of performance and productivity.
He has been there for just over three years, working on multiple projects and teams: notification service, order gRPC microservice, customer service system, product recommendation system, while currently working on internal tools for speeding up developments. Besides his work, he also one of the leads of Facebook Developer Circle Bandung and organizing monthly developers meetups in the city.

Muhammad Surya Asriadie, a Software Engineer from Bukalapak, will present on the fundamentals of Go programming language. He will introduce the basic of Go programming language, walk through each of its basic syntax and tools. and in the end together will create a simple web server that will print hello world.
He is a software engineer currently working for Bukalapak. He wrote programs in golang, ruby and any other languages.
