Intermediate Overnighter to Buenos Aires & Arivaca
Details
**THIS IS NOT A SAMBA EVENT**
This overnight bike event is put on and hosted by Campfire Cycling, located at 15 E. Tool Ave Tucson, AZ.
A few SAMBA members have signed up for this event on the Campfire Cycling website https://www.campfirecycling.com/event/intermediate-overnighter-to-buenos-aires-arivaca-3 and we wanted to share this event with you in case you were looking to get out of town for a Bikepacking trip.
"***If you would like to join this ride but it is cost prohibitive to do so, please let us know.
We’re headed back to the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Area for a 4th time!
This trip does have some challenges to it (sandy loose terrain, 1 guaranteed water fill). We’ll call it intermediate level and not advisable as a first time bike-packing trip.
The terrain is mostly gravel roads with some rough and sandy sections. We recommend a minimum of 50mm tires.
We’ll be riding about 30 miles out to campsite 82 and then about 30 miles back the next day, passing through Arivaca.
We will be self-supported and do not have plans for a sag wagon to join us. There will not be water at camp however there is water and restrooms available about 6 miles before camp as well as a sometimes source 2 miles beyond the camp on the second day. We recommend carrying 4 to 6 liters of water. There is also an option of a 20 mile out and back to Sasabe (Where the hell is Sasabe?) at the end of the first day for those who want a little more.
We will be contacting everyone who signs up for the ride to make sure they are prepared for the ride.
We will be parking our cars and meeting at the start of the route along West Arivaca Rd. and meeting at 9AM on Saturday morning. There is a pullout with parking, but this is remote unattended parking."
