Definition: (i) A distinguishing characteristic, trait, or feature. (ii) A mark or device placed or stamped on an article of trade to indicate origin, purity, or genuineness

Usage examples: (i) Winning the Nobel Prize is considered a hallmark achievement in the field of science. (ii) The artist's unique use of light and shadow is a hallmark of her masterful work.
