November Meetup – Presidential Debate Text Analysis and the osfr Package

Details

Our next UVa R Users Group meeting has been scheduled for November 30 from 5:30 to 7:00PM. This is a new time and a new location: the Center for Open Science (COS) (https://cos.io/), which is in the Omni Hotel on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall.

The meetup will feature talks by Michele Claibourn and COS staff. Michele is a political scientist and Director of Research Data Services at the University of Virginia Library. Her presentation will focus on text analysis in R, with examples drawn from 2016 presidential election debate transcripts.

Staff from COS will be also presenting on the osfr package, which is a client for interacting with the Open Science Framework (OSF) (https://osf.io/). The OSF is developed by COS, so this talk will feature a unique perspective on using the API in R.

COS has generously offered to provide PIZZA AND DRINKS for this meetup.

And we'll be continuing our $25 Amazon gift card raffle as well. To enter:

  1. RSVP on the meetup.com page

  2. Show up and find out if you've won

Directions to the meetup location are as follows:

COS is located in the Downtown Business Center of the Omni Hotel in Suite 500. If entering from the McIntire Road side, at the front of the Omni, you will see a large 200 and two glass double doors. You can enter through those doors, or from inside the Omni near the conference center. Once inside the business center there are suite maps that will direct you to our space.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
