Billy Goat Trail A (Technical 6.5 miles) and Starr Hill Biergarten in Tysons
Details
Join LLMH for a challenging, technical, and gorgeous hike on the Billy Goat Trail A near Carderock, Maryland. This hike requires a lot of rock scrambling as shown in the photo and is not appropriate for new hikers or anyone with injuries.
We will start at the Billy Goat Trail C Parking area in the map below and warm up with a 3 mile flat walk on the paved towpath before entering the 1.5 mile one-way rock scramble hike going southeast along the rocky Billy Goat A trail. We'll cool down with 2 miles back on the towpath to the parking area. Hiking shoes or sneakers with traction are required.
After this nearly 7 mile hike and rock scramble we'll head 10 minutes south to the new rooftop Starr Hill Biergarten that sits on top of the Capital One Hall in Tysons. The Biergarten, also known as The Perch, has lawn games, food, and live music. There is a public parking lot across the street that is $2 for 2 hours.
Carpooling may be available from VA Square metro upon request. Please DM the organizer to see if space is available and be prepared to donate $5 for gas & parking fees. If you would like to offer a carpool to other hikers outside of Arlington please do so in the comments.
