Weekly Friday Nerd / Geek Hangout - Super Villain Social

Details
Update to this particular week's gathering:
We rarely have any sort of "group business" to discuss at our weekly event, since I want to keep this an informal, fun and social thing, but this week I'm making a SMALL exception. I've been thinking about how we could "give back" as a group, to the wider nerd / geek culture in the Omaha area, and I think I've found the perfect way to dip our toes into that idea.
I read an article that said the Omaha Public Library system is seeing budget cuts, and is already having problems keeping up with demand for some books - with waiting lists for popular titles sometimes several months long, and hundreds deep. I'm thinking that SVS could inquire with the libraries to see if there are books that we, as a group, approve of (namely genuinely good science fiction and fantasy, or perhaps things related to science and technology - not pulp like Twilight), and pass a hat around at each meeting, with the money going toward buying good condition used books to fill those gaps at the library.
I haven't contacted the library about this yet - I want to get input from people first. I think it's a great idea though, and I know that we'd probably be able to get some press out of it even :)
Feel free to leave thoughts on the idea in the comments, but the decision will be made by those who show up in-person on Friday, so I hope I'll see even more of you there this week than our usually few dozen :)
(back to our regularly scheduled programming)
----------------
Hello Omaha area nerds and geeks!
Another Friday - another chance to meet like-minded nerds and geeks from around Omaha - in conjunction with our friends at Nerdtron & the Omaha Nerd Society :)
We hold this (almost) every Friday night, at Legend Coffee & Comics off of 52nd and Leavenworth - starting at 7pm, and going until midnight.
After that, the night owls head over to Village Inn or Perkins - most weeks we stay there until 3-4am. People start trickling in around 6pm - if you're new and want to be introduced, ask for Solo-Man (I'm usually wearing an old green Superman hat).
There is no structure or programming at these events - just hanging out. Most people socialize, play games (feel free to bring one and invite people to play with you) that are there or that they bring, play cards (we play Cards Against Humanity often for example) or just hop on their laptops, tablets, books, etc and do their own thing.
I have to stress this: If you're new and want to be introduced, either ask for Sol / Solo-Man ( the organizer ) and we'll give you the low down and introduce you to a few people. Since we do this in a coffee shop, are next door to a popular comic book store and there is a Magic: The Gathering tournament in the basement each week, there are a lot of people coming and going that aren't there for SVS, so you need to tell us if you'd like to get plugged in :)
I hope to see you there!
Solomon "Solo-Man" Kleinsmith
