Sometimes Homestead (https://laravel.com/docs/5.2/homestead) or a Vagrant (https://www.vagrantup.com/) environment is overkill to start up and play with a new project. We'll start fresh and build up a local development environment using Laravel Valet (https://laravel.com/docs/5.2/valet). With an overhead of roughly 7 megs of RAM, this is a lightweight alternative to begin a new project or small utility while saving battery and processor.

We'll go through the option available, customizing the top level domain, SSL, logs and sharing sites publicly from your machine. Lastly, although Valet supports a number of popular frameworks/apps, we'll create a custom driver to serve up a custom website.
