Sunday Hike at Dogwood Canyon (Easy)

Details

Hey everyone! It's been a while, so let's reconnect with a Sunday hike at Dogwood Canyon.

Dogwood Canyon is a scenic nature preserve in Cedar Hill, Texas, known for its diverse ecosystems, rugged limestone terrain, and picturesque hiking trails. Managed by the Audubon Society, the preserve features wooded canyons, open prairies, and seasonal wildflowers. The trails range from easy to challenging, and you might see some local wildlife, including birds and small mammals.

🧍🏾‍♀️ What We'll Do:

1️⃣ Hike the West Loop Trail

  • Distance: ~1.65 miles round trip
  • Terrain: Mostly shaded, a few bridges, some elevation changes
  • Difficulty: Easy to moderate

📝 Note: Please wear shoes with significant grip and pack water and a small snack to stay comfortable on the trail. Also, the trail(s) might be closed if there's rain the night before. If that happens, we'll either reschedule or head to Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve.

🔹 Where to Park: There is a parking lot right outside the visitor center.

🔹 Where to Find Us: We'll meet in front of the C.E. Doolin Visitor Center (that's where the address takes you). It's the starting point for all trailheads.

🌞 Weather & Miscellaneous: As of posting this, it’ll be 60 degrees when we start the hike. It should be comfortable, but dress in layers to be safe.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
