Dallas Intellectual Discussions

Our last meeting was chaotic, but lively and fun. Everybody was allowed to talk whenever they wanted, which at times worked well, but at times did not. In this upcoming July 23rd meeting I will attempt to moderate the discussion somewhat so it can be more focused and allow more viewpoints to be discussed.

Please not the half hour ealier start time. In the last meeting multiple people said they wanted an earlier start time.

Some of the issues I would like to have discussed in this meeting are:

1. The promise and threat of AI

2. How a society can enable the best life possible for as many people as possible for as long as possible, and

3. Research on how your brain computes your soul (which I will try to make as ungeeky as possible).

Below is a list of other important topics I hope we can discuss at some point in the future. Please raise your Zoom yellow hand to discuss any such topics you might want to discuss. If you don’t understand what the name of a topic means, we can discuss it in out meeting.
