January 21st Dallas Intellectual Discussions Zoom Meeting
Our January meetup will be at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, January 21st, the third Tuesday of the month as has been common in the past.
I apologize for the problems we had during the December 3rd scheduled meeting. I tried to start the meeting by clicking on the Zoom link posted on our Meetup group’s web page. A Zoom meeting screen appeared, but it said I could not join that meeting. Then Zoom told me I had to download Zoom AI. After doing that, the Zoom meeting screen was gone. So I went back to our group’s organizer page -- the same one I had clicked a few minutes before -- and clicked on the Zoom URL again. I was allowed to enter the resulting Zoom meeting as the organizer, but unbeknownst to me, that meeting had a different URL than the one I had sent out to our group’s members before the meeting. As a result, only one person joined me in the meeting, one who had clicked on the URL in our Meetup page after I had started the meeting with the new URL. We had a fantastic conversation for roughly an hour and a half. It appears I can only click a given Zoom URL once without changing it.
To prevent such problems in this upcoming January meeting, I will start the meeting at 7:10 PM, even though the scheduled start time is 7:30 PM. I would appreciate it if several of you would try to enter the meeting at 7:15 PM, and if you can’t, call me at 817-230-4215 and let me know you can’t get in, so I can send you, and other members, the URL of the Zoom meeting I am in.
Ed Porter
P.S.: I changed the image on our groups meetup web page. How many of you like it? How many don’t?
