Orientation Meetup

Hello everyone! I'm Laurie Gleaves and I'm Don's new co-organizer for this group and a member of the post-production team. I hope to see you all at the next meetup!

Thank you for your patience and as promised some good news on summer projects. We've got some really exciting events coming up.

Meetup (Orientation)

This orientation meeting is about the upcoming project on September 13th. Please come on time and be sure to sign up accordingly.

This is mandatory in order to participate in the September project. We need to do this because we are screening people for the event and need an accurate count of who will be attending. We welcome any and all members of any skill level who not only want workshops, but have projects of their own in mind to attend.

The September project will be held at a large restaurant bar that also has outdoor pool, jacuzzi, bar, lounge section, additional lounge chairs for sunbathing, umbrella covered cafe tables, area for DJs and/or live band, and a grill in Dallas! The name and location of the bar will disclosed at the meeting. We'll be doing multiple tasks at the location. There will be a fashion/glamour photo-shoot. Members can shadow a professional working with the models. If glamour photography makes anyone uncomfortable this upcoming project is not for you! Next is a fashion/glamour video of models and main actors by a professional team will run simultaneously. Members will shadow during this moment as well. There will be a makeup artist, director, assistants, and rest of crew coordinating the action/drama scene. For film members you will enjoy seeing a crew use a call sheet, work with model releases, etc. There will be one action sequence filmed and photographed. This will be a great opportunity for novice members to see how this process is done before post production adds in all those great SFX we all know and love. By 6pm, these all wrap up. This will give members an hour to take over. The venue is very generous to allow us full use of the pool area and our own little VIP spot in -doors. Never before has anyone ever been allow to film here and we get the exclusive!

This workshop allows our members to shadow professionals in action as well as let us get our hands dirty by filming and photograph professional models and actors. Names of actors and models will be disclosed at meeting. We'll get to work on location at a great venue instead of being stuck in a studio all day. Grilled food, pool jacuzzi that would normally cost $150, free! I repeat, free access, no cost!

For drinks, menu items, or other products and services members must paid. Members may also invite some friends for some fun in the sun! In order for non-participating guests to come they must be on the guest list to avoid the door charge and are allowed in at 4pm. Members attending must be 21 or older.

Too good to be true? Well there is one small catch...if you are serious about attending September 13th's event there's is a small admissions fee of $20. If you show up to on time to both the orientation meeting(August 19th at 7pm) and the September 13th event, 2:30pm for technical 3pm for everyone else, you will be refunded 50% of your money, $10 at the end of the event.

You will not be charged for the August 19th meeting.

The information discussed during the meet will not be repeated and for those who couldn't attend will not be able to participate in September's project as well as fall projects. There will be other projects in the future, so keep an eye out.

There will be a workshop after this meeting some time in August. We'll keep you posted.
