Event Details ...
Cost: FREE.
Parking: Many options (free and paid) throughout the area. Please arrive in the area several minutes early so that you have time to find parking and walk to our meeting point.
Before the Event: Socializing and icebreakers from 5:45 - 6:00 pm. If you arrive early enough you can browse through the galleries at the Kimbell, get a snack or a beverage in the café, and/or use their restrooms.
Meeting Point: In front of the Kimbell Art Museum, Kahn Building, west entrance - 3333 Camp Bowie Blvd, Fort Worth. Look for your host Robert (wearing a fedora-style hat) and a group of friendly people. We’ll depart on our walking tour at approximately 6:00 pm.
Icebreaker Introductions: We should have a good-sized group so instead of everyone introducing themselves to the group we will get to know each other by distributing blank stickers and colored markers and we’ll ask everyone to write down on their sticker: 1). first name. 2). favorite food. 3). dream vacation. Example: “Michele - Strawberries - Kenya” or “Robert - Chocolate - Japan”.
Ending Point: The Kimbell Art Museum, which is open until 8:00 pm.
After the Event: To-be-determined.

Meeting Point: At “The Salty” doughnut and coffee shop: 414 West Davis - Dallas.Join us for a leisurely stroll through Bishop Arts District, one of the most historic and fun places to visit in Dallas - with of course lots of great art, including shops and murals, and a variety of places to eat.
Bishop Arts District can get crowded during the afternoons and evenings, so let's visit in the morning when there are fewer people. : )The Bishop Arts District is a small shopping and entertainment district in north Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas (USA), near the intersection of Bishop Street and Davis Street. The Bishop Arts District is immediately southwest of Downtown Dallas.
The Bishop Arts District is home to over 60 boutiques, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, theaters and art galleries. Located in the heart of North Oak Cliff and only five minutes from downtown, we boast one of Dallas' most unique neighborhoods with our historical shopping district full of great finds, good eats, and good ol' Oak Cliff charm! While many of the shops stay open late on the weekends to provide a fun shop, stroll, and eat environment for visitors, the Bishop Arts District is populated with many independently-owned businesses.

Cost: FREE for the guided walking tour, optional doughnuts beforehand or lunch afterward at your own expense.

Meeting Point: 9:20 am at “The Salty” doughnut and coffee shop: 414 West Davis - Dallas. - great food and beverages and restroom (arrive early). Look for your hosts Robert (wearing a fedora-style hat) and Michele with a group of friendly people. We'll depart on our tour at approximately 9:30 am.

Itinerary: At approximately 9:30 am we’ll depart The Salt and proceed south on Bishop Avenue, although we’ll often be detouring down some of the side streets. There is a lot of great art, particularly murals, and many nice shops and restaurants.

Frederic Remington: The Truth of Other Days is a 1991 documentary film of American Western artist Frederic Remington made for the PBS series American Masters. It was produced and directed by Tom Neff and written by Neff and Louise LeQuire. Actor Gregory Peck narrated the film and Ned Beatty was the voice of Remington when reading his correspondence.
The documentary was produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; NHK Corporation (Japan); and Polaris Entertainment, Nashville, Tennessee. It was the first documentary to be filmed in High Definition Television (HDTV), but at the time it was years away from high-definition television broadcasting.

His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, American Indians, and the US Cavalry.
Remington was one of the first American artists to illustrate the true gait of the horse in motion (along with Thomas Eakins), as validated by the famous sequential photographs of Eadweard Muybridge.
Also, noteworthy was Remington's invention of "cowboy" sculpture. From his inaugural piece, The Broncho Buster (1895), he created an art form which is still very popular among collectors of Western art. He has been called the "Father of Cowboy Sculpture".
