LAMP Enrollment open at North Lake College

Post #: 1
I just wanted to let everyone know that the DCCCD's only LAMP
(Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP/Perl/Python) program is now open for
enrollment at North Lake College. This program consists of four
8-week courses (full-semester courses which are "compressed" to 8
weeks) which provide hands-on instruction in the following areas:

Linux Installation and Administration (ITSC 1391) - Hands-on
introduction to the Linux operating system covering aspects of
Linux installation, administration, upgrading, networking, security,
and application development.

Apache Installation and Administration (IMED 1391) - Learn how to set
up, configure, and administer your own web server. Topics will include
Apache architecture, core modules, security, and server management.

MySQL (ITSC 1391) - This course will prepare students with the
knowledge and tools necessary to install and maintain a secure and
stable MySQL database and will cover user and database setup, access
control, the SQL language, backups, and security.

PHP (ITSE 1391) - Brush up on your programming skills (or learn a new
skill!) by learning PHP, an open-source scripting language that forms
a critical component of Internet technology.

All classes are offered in the evenings, two nights a week with an
additional "open lab" available on Fridays. Classes are taught by
instructors with years of experience in various aspects of open-source
technology. And you can't beat the price: $133 tuition for each class
offered. Each class is a 3-hour credit course, and can be transfered
into other program and certificates.

Check out the schedule here:

Feel free to contact me for more info. Since these courses are
"hands-on," space is limited in each class, so don't wait to register.
We are always looking for instructors with industry experience and a
willingness to share what they know with others, so if this program or
other open-source topics are of interest to you, and you'd like to
help with teaching and curriculum development, let me know.
