What we’re about
We are a non-profit, vendor-neutral, professional organization dedicated to advancing the field of data management and practitioner excellence through training, certification, and exchange of ideas. We have been meeting semi-monthly since being founded in 1993 as a chapter of DAMA International. We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
While relatively new to MeetUp, our last events averaging 60-70 attendees, typically taking place in Center City, during work hours, and cover a rotating list of topics in business intelligence, analytics, data science, data governance, quality, and stewardship, and related disciplines.
Join us to meet other data professionals to hear latest trends from industry experts, or provide a presentation of your own!

OnlineVirtual 1 Day Training - Big Data Analytical and Integration Data Modeling
Brush up on your skills or get your feet wet, with this one day virtual training covering techniques, examples, and hands-on exercises to create data models for big data analytical and integration solutions
This training class will include techniques, examples, and hands-on exercises to create data models for analytical and integration data modeling including dimensional modeling, denormalization, canonical modeling, and other approaches required in big data environments and NoSQL databases.
Most data modeling tutorials focus on normalized relational database data modeling used for transactional data. However, since almost all transaction processing systems are now purchased, most of the data modeling I’ve been involved with in the last 10 years has been for big data analytical and integration solutions which require different modeling approaches.
· Transaction Modeling and Normalization review
· Dimensional Modeling for high volume analytics in relational databases (Data Warehousing and Data Marts)
· Multidimensional Modeling and Cubes for high-volume, high-speed analytics
· Denormalization for Big Data / Flat File / Data Lake analytics
· Messaging and Integration Modeling / Canonical Modeling in UML (and JSON)
