What we’re about
A group dedicated to dancing for social, emotional, and physical health. We are a dance studio, but also a community of people who love to use dance as a means to express ourselves and meet people that you would otherwise get a chance to meet. Whether it's taking a dance class together, or creating practice groups, going out dancing, building a flash mob, or watching a dance related movie together, we want to do that with you. The Viscount Dance Studio offers classes, dances, practice space, dance parties, and even a dance-film movie night (if you can call Xanadu a film!). We are all about the people and relationships that are formed here, and the transformations people see in their lives when they enter a dance community. Come join us!

Thanks to the infectious beat of the dhol drum the Panjabi folk dances bhangra & giddha have been a making inroads on to American dancefloors over the last several decades. Originating as a male harvest dance, Bhangra is from the state of Panjab which resides in both India and Pakistan. Giddha is the traditional women's dance. Moves from both dances will be taught in these classes. You want to learn to dance, but don't know where to start? Perfect. There are many beautiful dances out there to learn, but sometimes just the fundamentals of how to move with rhythm and grace with another person are enough. Sometimes getting just the foundations of the most popular partner dances out there are enough to fuel your new love affair with dancing...here's how it goes:
The goal of this series is for students to learn to utilize the most user friendly and effective aspects of partner dancing, using techniques found in Bachata, Night Club 2-Step, Salsa, Swing, and Tango (among other dances!). Burgeoning dancers will learn all there is to learn about connection, how to step in rhythm with another, how to find rhythm in all kinds of songs, and how to look good doing it.
What's the biggest take-away from this course? You will learn how to love, not fear, dancing. This class is great for couples looking for a romantic way to learn something new, or for singles looking to learn something new and meet new people! No prior dance experience required. No partner necessary. And bring YOUR iPod! We will dance to anything!
