DANCE PHOTO LONDON IS BACK!
And it's BACK to BASICS to begin with...
Michelle here from Dance Photo London! It has been a while since DPL has hosted an event, and what better way to reboot than with the start of a fresh new year! Ruben is doing tremendously well in his yoga ventures, hosting events abroad as well as here in London. I spent a good year touring the UK & Ireland with Strictly Ballroom the Musical (yup, I went ballet to ballroom for a bit!), among other ventures. I have taken over the reigns of DPL and am happy to introduce Nick Gregan, an experienced photographer who has captured many faces over the years. He will be joining me in the studio to give his technical insight from behind the lens.
This event is to welcome in a new year, a new space, some new faces and the return of DPL. This two-hour dance photography workshop will be held at The Camera Club in Kennington, South London. In contrast to previous events, this will be a weekday evening session in a photography studio.
We will be working in tandem to help you capture the perfect shot. Nick will be providing the technical insight of working with the camera and I will be explaining the dance technique, in order to better understand the aesthetic that should be captured in dance photography.
To begin, we will have a little warm up. I'll be concentrating on stretches and tendus to warm up my own body and you will be able to get accustomed to the lighting and space. Then we'll move to positions of the body, the pointe shoes and larger movements including jumps.
