PICASSO 📸🩰
Focus Point(e): Rose, Blue, Cube 🟥🟦🟨
DPL is delighted to continue our artist-inspired series with our next photography workshop: PICASSO.
Step beyond documentation and into experimentation as we explore how movement, light, and composition can transform the dancing body into something unexpected. Inspired by Picasso's Rose Period, Blue Period, and the revolutionary world of Cubism, this two-hour workshop will challenge both your technical skills and creative eye.
Together we'll investigate:
◼️ Body Distortion & Isolation (Fragmenting classical lines and reshaping the body through the lens)
◼️ Breaking the Rule of Thirds (Exploring bold compositions, unusual perspectives, and visual imbalance)
◼️ Light Painting (Inspired by Picasso's light painting captured by photographer Gjon Mili)
This whorkshop will be led by Michelle Buckley (professional dancer & co-founder/director of DPL) and Nick Gregan (professional photographer & author). Together, we will guide you through this specially curated workshop, capturing movement through time with long exposures and luminous traces. Join us for an afternoon of experimentation, abstraction, and creation, reimagining dance through the eyes of Picasso.
