The beautiful, remote Tyndall range on the west coast of Lutruwita/Tasmania is threatened by Tasmania’s "Next Iconic Walk". This sort of high-end, high environmental impact, exclusive walking corrupts our National Parks, which are supposed to be for the protection of nature and use by the general public. The track and luxury huts will be substantial and intrusive and be restricted to only those who are able to pay a great deal.

This ball was founded in 1998 to honour, with a little humour, buttongrass and the rest of Tasmania's natural environment, all Tasmanians who in the last 40,000 years have walked the buttongrass moorlands, and the many musicians and dancers who have helped shape Tasmania’s unique culture.

Proceeds of the ball will go to the Tasmanian National Parks Association (https://tnpa.org.au/),
working to protect our natural heritage.

Tread lightly on the land, even if you stomp on the dance floor.
