Dark Trails NH

This group is to gather folks that want to explore trails at night and experience another side of the woods that normally goes by unnoticed. Whether this is something you've wanted to do, or have done but just want others around for safety, this may be a group for you.

This is not really intended to be a social club, and more of a group to go on hikes in somewhat questionable environments. Feel free to tag along and not say a word and just enjoy being outside. Being quiet and experiencing the sights and sounds of night is part of what this is about.

Until we know we have experienced members at events, we will plan to stay on trails. If we go offtrail it will likely be in the day first.

I'm located south-central NH, so events will likely be around that area for now.

Rules (subject to change)

1. No pets. Due to limited visibility and potential to be far away from help, no pets are permitted. Feel free to do any hikes on your own with however many pets you want to bring.
2. Any minors (under 18) need to have an adult guardian with them at all times. Any minors should be at least 12 capable but you know your kids. No hike will turn around if you are scared, so if you cause your kid to have PTSD from being in the dark, that is on you.
3. No leaving the group alone. We don't want to make situations where people can be isolated in the dark. Even breaking off into a smaller group can be dangerous as the night can be disorienting. Please plan to stay with the group.
4. Bring a flashlight and extra batteries. We may forego illumination at times but there are times where a flashlight may be needed. Be thoughtful to others though and limit illumination to what you need (i.e. no search lights that can illuminate the moon)
5. All are welcome. Refrain from any divisive political or religious discourse that should stay in your own social media bubbles. This is a time to explore, let loose, and enjoy nature. Respect others.
6. Waivers will be required.
