This Sunday Join us as we walk Taylor Head!

Details

Each week, members of our Dartmouth-based walking club come together on Sunday mornings to walk one of our local trails. New members are always welcome to join!

Please be sure to check the weather on the day (we walk in almost all conditions) and dress appropriately! This trail warrants strong walking shoes / hiking boots.

This Sunday (July 6th) will be the first of our "wilderness hikes" for the Summer of 2025. We will be walking the Headland Trail which is an 8km hike along the shoreline out to Taylor Head, and back.

The Hike: There will be longer and shorter options: the 4 km group will walk the first loop of the Spry Bay Trail, while the 8km group will continue on around the Headland. This hike will take approximately 3 - 3.5 hours.
There are no major hills on the route, but the trail surface is a mix of rough woodland trail (with roots and muddy spots) and beach rock.
This is probably a good time to bring your walking poles, if you use them. Bring water and snacks. You can also bring lunch, and make a day of it on the beautiful beach, if you wish.

Time: Registration will open at 9:30 am and the hike departs at 10:00.

Assembly Point: Taylor Head Provincial Park is a 90 min drive from HRM, along Route #7, the Marine Drive. So an early departure from HRM is necessary. Co-ordinate travel with fellow hikers if you can, as car sharing is encouraged!
Once you arrive at the Park, follow the gravel road in to a series of parking lots. Drive up to Parking Lot 4, where we will assemble at the Trailhead. If that lot is already full, you may have to park in Lot #3, and then walk across to the Trailhead.
