DARV Theme Meeting 3.0 - Tiago Martins

Details

DARV Theme Meeting 3.0 will focus on the elements of embodiment and playfulness in interaction design, as strategies for heightening usability and user experience; as well as to stimulate curiosity, exploration and role-play.

Tiago Martins, an interdisciplinary creator and educator working with digital technologies, will share insights into some of his works resulting from collaborations within diverse contexts over the past 15 years - interactive art, speculative design, multidisciplinary research and startup environments. This body of work has a constant focus on embodied interaction, often relying on playfulness, elements of game design, tangible and wearable interfaces to foster different aspects of each work’s expressive and participatory qualities.

About Innovationshauptplatz and DARV
The innovation office, called Innovationshauptplatz – innovation main square, was launched in 2019. It is a physical office as well as a digital platform. It is an initiative initiated by the Mayor Klaus Luger. The objective of the office is to advice and support innovation actors, to promote innovative ideas and projects in providing infrastructure and support as well to develop its own innovation projects particularly in public space. It therefore also has its own pop-up store where innovative projects can be presented.

DARV is an art collective and a series of projects initiated by an international team of artists, interaction designers and software developers based in Austria. Realised in the context of close collaboration between art and technology, this endeavour connects media art, site-specific installations and contemporary dance, using the means of mixed reality and interactive video projections. Artistic concepts are transformed into Mixed Reality exhibitions, performative interventions in public spaces or intermedia dance performances, offering an experience of intermedia oneness to participating artists and audience alike.
