Designing the Underworld... design session & soiree

This evening we will be exploring the design options for the cozy underworld in the cellar of das Baumhaus. This is where the toilet rooms and gallery hallway installations will be.

The general concept so far is to create the experience of traveling through our tunneled world underneath the tree and be delivered to 2 portals into fantastic worlds, each with their own unique character separate from any other.

@ 19 - 19:30 We will have a short meet & greet session upstairs in Baumhaus HQ.

@ 19:45 - 20:30 we head down to the space to establish a feel for the space and develop some character ideas using some interactive methods as well as some chalk on the floor.

@ 20:30 we will head back upstairs and begin sketching ideas in imagery, text and conversation.

@ 21:30 we will give short presentations of our findings for the evening (results will also be posted online on our blog)

@ 22:00 chill, have fun clever discussions, dance, have some laughs, etc....

So far, Romeck van Zyl and Rebecca Loos have generated some interesting concepts and ideas. Now we are opening up the opportunity for more folks who would like to participate in designing the spaces.

We will have available various blank templates of perspective views to sketch on, blank paper, pencils, erasers, pens, markers and some reference photos along with some fiddly bits and jibs.

Everyone should bring drinks, food and snacks to share along with a desire to get creatively turned on and active. We also really appreciate it when people bring stump and stick candles to burn so we can continue to afford creating a warm atmosphere for everyone. Let us know if you would like to use the kitchen to warm things up or prepare food (I'm making popcorn!). Anyway, please help us keep the space clean throughout the evening.
