SurrealDB co-founder Tobie Morgan Hitchcock will share his personal journey struggling to build systems on top of multiple disconnected databases – and the moment he decided to build a multi-model database instead. He’ll unpack the original pain points, why existing databases weren’t enough, and how requirements like graph-based reasoning, real-time workloads and semantic search shaped the design. Tobie will then connect this to the generative AI age: the kinds of problems teams are now solving with multi-model data, and why these capabilities are becoming critical for modern AI systems.

As AI coding tools become embedded in daily development, they bring a new wave of productivity, and new security risks. In this session I break down the security implications of Vibe Coding and share actionable strategies to secure AI-generated code at scale.
