Data Literacy & Advanced Geospatial Analysis in the humanitarian space

Details

This is the first of a series of events organized by Médecins Sans Frontières (doctors Without Borders) where we want to connect the tech & data community with the Humanitarian sector.

  • 17:30 - 18:00 Doors Open, Networking opportunities.
  • 18-00 - 19-00 Melissa El Hammouch: Data and Digital Literacy Lead @IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) will guide us through her journey to engage all non-technical people into the data &analytics domain in Humanitarian Organizations.
  • 19:00 - 20:00 Andries Heyns: Geographic Information Systems and Missing Maps Coordinator @Médecins Sans Frontières adopted a Humanitarian Health facility accessibility model, that helps to find the best spot for new health facilities. This takes into account GIS data like landcover, elevation, presence of roads, rivers, bridges, you name it. GIS to the next level!
  • 20:00 - onwards: Drinks (in the nearby bar at own expense)
