Algorithmic assessments: challenges of red teaming generative AI
Fariza Rashid, Doctoral student, University of Sydney
Fariza Rashid is a doctoral student at the University of Sydney, specialising in AI applications in cybersecurity. In this talk, Fariza will give an introduction to algorithmic assessment and highlight some current challenges in red teaming generative AI models.
As generative AI models can create responses that are biased, false, harmful, or even deceptive while also having many security vulnerabilities, red teaming is an adversarial and exploratory approach to evaluate a model and reveal its vulnerabilities.
Fariza will also discuss findings from the Generative AI public red teaming challenge at Defcon 2023.
Fariza is a recipient of the University of Sydney Scholar Chancellor's Award and the NSW Defence Innovation Network Postgraduate Scholarship. She has presented her work at AISA Australian Cyber Conference and APRU AI for Social Good Summit. Her current research focuses on using deep learning for malicious URL detection.
