Data Engineers Meetup Launch & Data Lakehouses!
Details
Join us at Excella for the in-person launch of the Data Engineers DC Meetup!
Formerly Data Wranglers DC, we're rebranding to focus on modern data engineering and looking at the state of the art in data management!
We'll spend this first session talking about our 2025 programming, and discussing the state of data engineering and how we're adapting to AI.

Talk: Data Lakehouses: Where Structure Meets Flexibility
This presentation introduces key data management systems, including transactional databases (OLTP), data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouses. It explains the purpose and functionality of each system, highlighting how they address different data needs. It will also explore how open table formats such as Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, and Apache Hudi enable the lakehouse model, combining the strengths of data warehouses and data lakes.
Sean Youn is a Senior Solutions Engineer at Databricks. He has been working in the Data Engineering/Architecture space for 4 years focused on building data engineering use cases and cloud data platforms to enable analytics and other data use cases.
