Summary: In this session, Koosha will explain data engineering as a practice through analogies, many of which will be familiar in every day life. In addition, we will review the state of the art, the trends towards cloud solutions, semantic layers, and new ETL frameworks. Lastly we will discuss the role of AI and how it fits into the overall data engineering profession.

Speaker Bio: Koosha Totonchi is a Principal Data Engineer at Sun Life and former Googler who worked on various analytics projects across startups, governments, and large technology firms. In addition to internal tools, his work at various companies has also involved building data pipeline solutions that feed external products sold broadly in the market to S&P500 companies.
