19:00 - 19:30 Text classification (vacancy example) using ML (Stanislav Dior).

19:00 - 19:30 Where do we use text classifications and why? The process of uploading (creation) of a vacancy requires a manual labeling of the each vacancy you post (f.g. driver, cleaner etc.). Which approach could we use to automate this process? How Machine Learning can help us? I will share my own experience, advices and the challenges I faced during the implementation.

19:30 - 20:00 Towards the function call to rule them all - Trends in the R package ecosystem & the human2vec algorithm (Knut Jägersberg, Data Creative, Phd Candiate & Evil Mad Scientist).

Data Science is a rapidly evolving field. To keep track of the field, a data driven approach should be embraced. In the first part of the talk, we will take a look at the demand for R packages, according to download rates from Rstudio. In this exploratory data analysis, we will look what trends have shaped and changed the R language (and data science) over the last years, and what changes can be expected in the near future. We will discover the R-story using several techniques, some more common (i.e. time series analysis & plain plotting), some more innovative (graph & NLU-based perspectives). The second part of the talk introduces the human2vec algorithm & its application to the known bank marketing dataset from the UCI ML repository for customer segmentation & predicting if people subscribe a term deposit (become a customer).

20:00 - 20:30 Datavisualisaties en infographics bij het Planbureau voor de leefomgeving (Filip de Blois)

Filip zal het hebben over het creatie proces van een themasite over duurzaam-voedsel. Interactieve visualisaties zijn uitbesteed, delen zijn zelf gedaan. De ontwikkeling van de site was bovendien al begonnen toen het hoofdrapport nog niet af was.

Filip de Blois maakt infographics en datavisualisaties bij het PBL (Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving), het nationale instituut voor strategische beleidsanalyse op het gebied van milieu, natuur en ruimte. In 2013 won Filip met PBL en Frederik Ruys de Infographics Jaarprijs van de BNO voor het boekje Nederland verbeeld. Tegenwoordig wordt er door PBL meer online gepubliceerd zoals onlangs de one page website over het Nederlands voedselsysteem: www.pbl.nl/duurzaam-voedsel
