SPEAKERS
โบ Jesse Paquette
Jesse is a bioinformatician with 22 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, data science and software development in the life sciences industry. At [Tag.bio](https://tag.bio/) (San Francisco, CA), he is the lead developer on the FluxCapacitor - Tag.bio's data product development kit and compute engine.
Previously, Jesse led the Bioinformatics Team at Ayasdi (Palo Alto, CA), developed analytics applications for Cancer Tumor Boards at Thermo Fisher (San Bruno, CA), provided computational biology support to the UCSF Cancer Center (San Francisco, CA), and wrote one of the first interactive genome/sequence browsers at Genedata (Basel, CH). Jesse currently lives in Brussels, BE.
โบ Sajith Payyadakath
Beginning his career as an enterprise application developer proficient in Java and associated frameworks, Sajith developed keen interest in data engineering during his tenure at Signify (formerly Philips Lighting). Here, he played a crucial role in the creation of a Data Platform. Upon relocating to the Netherlands, Sajith extended his expertise by facilitating Data Scientists in making the most of the data platform. He went on to implement algorithms for predictive and explanatory analysis of luminaire behaviors. Currently serving as the Lead Engineer for Data Platform at Vanderlande, Sajith is entrusted with overseeing the Cloud and Data architecture of the Data Platform, built upon the foundational principles of Data Mesh.
TALKS
"Data Product and Data Mesh Architecture for Precision Medicine" by Jesse Paquette
The life sciences industry is equally blessed and cursed with rich, multimodal datasets - from single-cell omics to real-world population health outcomes. Pharmaceuticals and biotechs have struggled for 20 years to organize and deliver this complex data under FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reproducible). To solve this problem, over the past 8 years, we have researched and developed a configurable, domain-centric data product engine and scalable data mesh architecture which efficiently deliver FAIR, integrated, well-modeled, useful data sources for direct use by researchers, data scientists, AI/ML frameworks, physicians, and business leaders. In this presentation, we will discuss design, configuration, and orchestration of our data product / data mesh architecture within a secure cloud computing environment.
"Unlocking the Potential of Data Mesh for Enterprises at Vanderlande: Navigating Beyond the Data Plane" by Sajith Payyadakath
Sneak peak at Data Mesh for Vanderlande in this video.
As organizations embrace the Data Mesh philosophy to revolutionize their data platforms, a crucial journey begins. In this presentation, we delve into the vital considerations of Governance, Privacy and Security. The real challenge lies in aligning with regulatory requirements and ensuring sensitive data remains shielded even from the developers. We will explore proven patterns that pave the way for a scalable data platform, all while remaining tool-agnostic. Highlights include leveraging graph based metadata API and strategies like row and column-level encryption to fortify data privacy and security. Lastly, we'll shed light on establishing observability with centralized logging for platforms like Azure and Snowflake.
PARKING & TRAIN
Free parking available - Want to come by train? Let us know, we will arrange easy access from the train station.
