Time Dimensions in the Data Vault with Petr Beles (English)

Details

We’re happy to once again welcome data vault expert Petr Beles from Switzerland. Petr has done extensive research on timelines and how to deal with them in a data vault context and will share his findings with us.

If you can’t wait until the meetup, you can find his articles on the subject here: https://datavault-builder.com/2021/07/12/scd_type2_output_dwh_data_vault/

Abstract:

One of the recurring themes in data warehousing in general and in data vault in particular is: How do we historize our data?

In his talk, Petr will introduce the most important timelines and how we can deal with them. We will discuss how we can store the times and also output them again to create meaningful reports. The whole thing will be illustrated with an example.

Afterwards, we will open the discussion to dive into technical details like PIT tables and ghost records and share our experiences.

Speaker:

Petr Beles has profound experience in data warehouse projects in the telecommunications, financial and industrial sectors. For several years, he has been successfully implementing projects with data vault and training teams in the application of this data modeling technique.

Petr is the product owner of Datavault Builder ( https://datavault-builder.com/ ).
