Data Modeling with JSON with Francesco Puppini (English)

We’re happy to welcome Italian data modeling iconoclast and author Francesco Puppini.

Abstract:

Data Modeling and Business Intelligence are centered on tables. But our data sources are more and more in JSON format. JSON files can be easily converted into tables when they natively have a flat structure.

But what should we do when our JSON data source has nested dictionaries and arrays? Is there a general solution to visualize JSON data with any existing BI tool?

The presentation will include a live demo and a group brainstorming.

Speaker:

Francesco Puppini is an Italian freelance consultant in business intelligence and data warehousing. He has worked on over 30 different projects across ten European countries, for clients from several industries.

He is currently working as a business intelligence specialist and innovator, after 20 years spent on Business Objects, Qlik, Tableau, SQL, Teradata, and data modeling. He has recently published The Unified Star Schema, co-written with Bill Inmon.
