We’re happy to welcome American data warehousing expert Jay Quincy Allen who will show us how to build lineage at the column and row level into your data warehouse.

Abstract:

Do you use a data lineage tool? Are you thinking about investing in one? Before buying, take a moment to think about what would be involved in building your own. What features do you need from your lineage tool? In his presentation, Jay will review a simple example of an extensible model that captures all your lineage requirements.

If you have the skills necessary to develop a Data Warehouse, ***and*** you have the skills necessary to develop business intelligence activities around that Data Warehouse, then those are the same skills needed to build lineage into your data integration processes and Data Warehouse.

Jay Quincy Allen has worked in software development for over 35 years, spending most of that time focused on decision support efforts within organizations. Jay has developed data engineering teams for small, medium, and Fortune 100 companies.

He has consulted for the United States’ National Cancer Institute, led data integration projects for the Florida Judicial Circuit and Florida law enforcement, and developed software and Data Warehouses for more than 20 private businesses across the United States.
