Statistical Research Specialist, TennCare

Gilma Adunas-Rivas works as a Statistical Research Specialist for the division of TennCare. She earned her master's degree in Physics from Vanderbilt University and considers herself a lifelong learner and problem solver.

During her time at Vanderbilt as a student and researcher she specialized in Biophysics and Medical Imaging, acquiring valuable skills that she now applies in the data industry. Gilma spends her time at work exploring methods to identify Fraud, Waste, and Abuse in medical claims data.

She has lived in Nashville for 20 years and loves spending time with her family and friends. She also finds joy in music and is currently trying to learn to play the bass guitar.

Topic: Unveiling Healthcare Fraud: The Power of Analytical Visualizations

This conversation will be focused on the use of visualizations as an analytical tool in the detection of medical fraud. A general overview of the data cycle employed in TennCare’s data mining activities will be provided, including the extraction, cleansing, and loading of data into visualization software with the goal of creating engaging and digestible products.

Join us for the discussion! I'll look forward to seeing you on March 6th!
