Please join us as Lynn Samuelson presents “We Built I.T.: History of Women in Tech and Data,” offering her unique insights into the pivotal roles women have played in technology and data throughout history.
This talk was originally created as a way to celebrate Women's History Month and launch I.T. Girls as a meetup. After discovering the abundant roles women held in creating the tech we have today, Lynn wants to share this story with more people. This talk highlights how women have been instrumental in shaping technology from its earliest days, while addressing how women can continue to leave their mark in technology.
Who is Lynn Samuelson:
Lynn is a Software Engineer at HealthTrust with a distinctive background that bridges scientific research and technology. After earning her PhD in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University and spending years in cancer research, she transitioned into software development a decade ago through Nashville Software School (NSS). Over her 10-year tech career, she has worked on diverse projects ranging from web development to data engineering and analysis.
Beyond her technical work at HealthTrust, Lynn is passionate about building community and creating pathways for others in tech. She co-founded I.T. Girls, a Nashville-based meetup in March of 2025 to support women in technology fields. She also collaborates with Code CampFire to help aspiring technologists land their first roles in the industry. In the past, she has taught Web Development and SQL professional development courses at NSS, where she helped equip the next generation of developers with essential data skills.
